Here's the recipe for you to try at home:
CREAMED BANANAS IN PUFFED PASTRY SHELLS
CREAM SAUCE:
- 1/2 Tbsp flour
- 2 egg yolks
- 1/2 Tbsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup whipping cream
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 heaping scoop French vanilla ice cream
Combine flour, egg yolks, and vanilla extract in a bowl; set aside.
In a saucepan over medium heat, bring the whipping cream and sugar to a boil; remove from heat.
Stir a small amount of hot cream into egg yolk mixture; return all to the pan, stirring constantly.
Bring to a gentle boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in ice cream.
Allow to chill in refrigerator for several hours, or overnight.
BANANAS:
- 1 pkg puff pastry shells
- 3 ripe (not overripe) bananas
- Cream Sauce (above)
- chocolate syrup
Bake pastry shells according to package directions.
Remove the top and carefully scrape out the doughy inside, being careful not to tear the shell walls; place on serving plates.
Chop bananas into bite-sized pieces and add to the cream sauce. Pour into pastry shells, allowing some to spill out over the edge and onto the plate. Drizzle with chocolate syrup and serve immediately.
