Christmas Crunch

Ingredients:

• 4 cups Rice Chex® cereal
• 3 cups Corn Chex cereal, or use 7 cups Rice Chex® if you prefer
• 4 cups regular Cheerios® cereal
• 4 cups mini pretzel twists
• 3 cups salted peanuts
• 3 cups red and green M&Ms®
• 36 ounces white chocolate chips
• 4 Tbsp solid vegetable shortening, like Crisco®

Instructions:

1. Line 2 large cookie sheets with parchment paper; set aside. In a very large bowl pour in Chex® cereals, Cheerios® cereal, pretzels, and peanuts; set aside.

2. Over a double boiler, melt chocolate and shortening until they are melted. For a double boiler, just fill a pot about 1/3 full of water, and bring to a boil. Place chocolate and shortening in a bowl larger than the top of the pot, turn heat down to low and stir until combined. If you don't want to use the double boiler method, you can microwave them in a microwave safe dish, stirring after 1 minute initially, then every 30 seconds thereafter to make sure the chocolate doesn't seize (getting too hot and clumping).

3. Pour chocolate mixture over cereal mixture and stir. Pour in M&Ms® and gently toss to coat. Immediately pour onto the lined cookie sheets and spread out. Allow to cool for about 20 minutes. Once set, break pieces apart and store in an airtight container.
